Piscis Lagoena is an art project featuring two phenomena:
—–> the accelerated disappearance of our ecosystems
—–> the exponential increase in our production of plastic packaging and their waste.
In the world in 2014:
—–> 154 billion litres of water were bottled PET plastic
—–> 154 billion kilos of fish were sown in the world
Therefore, one litre of bottled water for a fish weighing one kilo.
ONE FISH / ONE BOTTLE
The obvious thing was to name this new species Piscis Lagoena (or Bottle Fish) and the urgency to describe it.
The installation presents a Piscis Lagoena’s shoal accompanied by a soundtrack.
The object Lagoena Piscis is the meeting of the skeleton of a fish and a plastic bottle of water, ironically fish’s element of life
The artist’s gaze is then the one of the observer, of the scrupulous naturalist.
Piscis Lagoena is at the same time a cabinet of curiosities, a ship in bottle maker fad, a sculpture, an installation of Contemporary Art, an approach.
By convergence or spite, the fish became a bottle, an image of transfigured Nature.
For 30 years, I realize installations with plastic materials until the point of considering the PLASTIC as the 5th element.
Many of my works feature lighting plastic fish. Piscis Lagoena illustrates the reverse, the hidden
side of this work. Piscis Lagoena is the other side of the mirror.
